Elemental Spirits
Companions that follow you and make you stronger in combat. At level 76 with a 3rd class you receive all four as Minor spirits. Pick one as your active spirit — that is the one that fights with you, shows beside you, and gives you its bonuses.
The four spirits
| Spirit | Element |
|---|---|
| Fire | |
| Water | |
| Wind | |
| Earth |
You can raise all four. Only the active spirit decides your attack element and spirit ATK on hits — but each spirit's DEF protects you against its own element at all times, even when another spirit is equipped. Switch the active one to match what you are hunting or who you are fighting.
Why they matter
Spirits add two layers on top of classic attributes:
- Active spirit — Attribute Attack (extra elemental damage on your hits) plus that spirit's crit rate and crit damage
- All four spirits — Attribute Defense for their own element (Ignis vs fire, Nebula vs water, and so on), whether or not they are equipped
- Attribute Critical Rate — more critical hits from the active spirit (normal attacks and skills, against monsters and players)
- Attribute Critical Damage — those critical hits hurt more
The active spirit also follows you around, so other players can see which element you are using.
Why Attribute Attack feels weak on farm
Seeing 110 vs 250 Attribute Attack and expecting double farm damage? Spirits do not work like classic weapon or armor attributes. Here is what those numbers actually do.
Classic attributes from weapons, armor and stones are a separate system. Do not confuse them with spirit Attribute Attack.
PvE (mobs)
- Spirit Attribute Attack does not multiply your full hit the way classic attributes do.
- It is a separate small bonus added on top of the normal hit — roughly: damage ≈ normal hit + small spirit bonus.
- On big farm hits that bonus is a tiny slice of the total, so 110 vs 250 usually lands around ~0–3% more damage — intended, not a bug.
- Most mobs have little or no spirit defense (often a simple 0 / 100 rule), so the jump is not linear "2× more damage".
PvP
- Different formula: your spirit ATK minus the opponent's spirit DEF of the same element.
- It matters more against players who invested in spirit defense — low ATK can do almost nothing through high DEF.
- There is a soft-cap on the bonus. Against 0 defense and huge base hits, 110 and 250 can still look similar.
| What you feel | |
|---|---|
| PvE (mobs) | 110 vs 250 ≈ almost the same on farm — intended; the spirit bonus is small next to a normal hit |
| PvP | The gap matters mainly against players with spirit DEF |
Element cycle
Fire beats Earth → Earth beats Wind → Wind beats Water → Water beats Fire
Use Fire against earth-type enemies, Water against fire-type, and so on. Switch the active spirit to stay on the winning side for attack — your resists from the other three spirits stay online.
Growth: Minor → Lesser → Median
Every spirit starts as Minor. You grow it in two ways: Attribute XP levels within a stage, then evolution to the next stage.
Each stage has 10 levels. Stronger stages hit much harder:
Starting form after unlock. Modest attack, defense, and crit.
A big jump. More power, more crit.
The strongest form. Highest attack, defense, and crit.
A fully grown Median spirit is in a different league from a fresh Minor one.
How to gain Attribute XP
Spirits do not grow from your normal character XP. They have their own Attribute XP from matching hunts and Rough Jewels.
Where to level (70+)
Primary farms are high-level zones that fit a level-76 unlock. Hunting there grants Attribute XP for that spirit and can drop its Evolution Stones.
| Spirit | Primary farms | Also works |
|---|---|---|
| Forge of the Gods, Ketra Orc Outpost, Saints Necropolis | Garden of Eva / Alligator Island; some Dimensional Rift Commander rooms | |
| Hot Springs, Primeval Isle, Catacomb of the Forbidden Path | Dimensional Rift Recruit / Soldier rooms | |
| Wall of Argos, Monastery of Silence, Catacomb of Dark Omens | Beast Farm Alpens; Treasure Chests; some Rift rooms | |
| Imperial Tomb, Varka Silenos Outpost, Disciples Necropolis | Dimensional Rift Hero rooms |
On the primary 70+ packs you also have about a 4% chance to get Evolution Stones for that spirit — so you level and farm stones in the same places.
Hunt the matching element
Only listed monsters for that element grant Attribute XP. Killing Fire-list packs feeds Ignis, Water feeds Nebula, and so on. You will see a message when Attribute XP is gained, and another when the spirit levels up.
Absorb Rough Jewels
Each jewel gives 9,300 Attribute XP to that spirit.
Jewels drop from the opposite element (about 3% of the time):
| Hunt | Jewel drop |
|---|---|
So if you want Ignis to grow faster: hunt Fire packs for his XP, and hunt Water packs for Fire jewels to absorb. You can also trade Attribute Fragments for Rough Jewels at Attribute Master Svein.
You cannot absorb jewels once the spirit is already at max level for its current stage.
Evolution
A spirit can evolve when it is level 10 with a full XP bar. You also need Evolution Stones of that element and Adena. Stones drop while farming the primary 70+ zones above:
| From | To | Evolution Stones | Adena |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minor (1-Star) | Lesser (2-Star) | 1 | 1,000,000 Adena |
| Lesser (2-Star) | Median (3-Star) | 3 | 3,000,000 Adena |
After evolving, the spirit starts that new stage at level 1 and can grow to 10 again, with much better stats. Median is the last stage. Evolution Stones are separate from Attribute Fragments — fragments do not evolve a spirit.
You cannot evolve, absorb, or extract while running a private store.
Characteristics (talent points)
Each stage gives you extra points to spend on the spirit:
Put them into Attack, Defense, Critical Rate, or Critical Damage, depending on whether you want more damage, more survivability, or more crits.
Changed your mind? Reset costs 5,000,000 Adena and gives the points back.
Extract
You can extract Attribute Fragments from a grown spirit. Fragments are spent at Attribute Master Svein — they are not absorb materials.
- Costs 100,000,000 Adena
- Uses 5,000,000 Attribute XP from that spirit per fragment
- You get Fire, Water, Wind, or Earth Attribute Fragments (also available from the Astral Merchant for Oasis Shards)
Careful: the spirit drops back to level 1 and its characteristics are reset.
If the spirit does not have enough Attribute XP, extraction will fail.
Attribute Master Svein
Svein is the spirit shop NPC. Find him in Giran, Aden and Goddard. Spend Attribute Fragments (plus Adena where listed) on necklaces, varnish, potions and materials.
- Spirit Necklaces — full Old Lv.1 → Lv.2 → Lv.3 → Lv.4 → final necklace ladder per element
- Fragment exchanges — Spirit's Varnish, Blessed Spirit's Varnish and Attribute Attack Potions (no ancient books, magical tablets or agathions)
- Materials — Intermediate / Advanced Spirit's Blessing and Rough Jewel conversion
Spirit Necklaces
Craft and upgrade one necklace per element at Svein. Equipping it grants that element's defense and a hunt Attribute XP bonus. Higher tiers are stronger.
| Tier | Element defense | Hunt Attribute XP |
|---|---|---|
| Old Necklace Lv.1 | +20 | +3% |
| Old Necklace Lv.2 | +40 | +6% |
| Old Necklace Lv.3 | +60 | +10% |
| Old Necklace Lv.4 | +80 | +15% |
| Spirit Necklace (final) | +100 | +30% |
Enchanting with varnish
- Spirit's Varnish — enchant up to +10. Fail destroys the necklace.
- Blessed Spirit's Varnish — same cap. Fail resets enchant to +0 instead of destroying it.
- Buy both at Svein's fragment exchange shop.
Blessings & Attribute Attack Potions
Spirit's Blessings speed up Attribute XP while you hunt matching attribute monsters. Duration 20 minutes.
- Intermediate Spirit's Blessing — +30% hunt Attribute XP
- Advanced Spirit's Blessing — +50% hunt Attribute XP
Attribute Attack Potions add +50 elemental attack for 20 minutes (Fire, Water, Wind or Earth). The bonus shows in Alt+T on that spirit's attack power.
Quick tips
- Raise all four over time — defense from every spirit is always on. Equip the one that beats what you are fighting for attack.
- Farm the primary 70+ zone for Attribute XP and Evolution Stones together.
- Hunt the opposite element when you want Rough Jewels to absorb — or convert fragments at Svein.
- Evolve as soon as you hit level 10 with a full bar — later stages are worth it. Stones evolve; fragments shop.
- Spend characteristic points; they are a free extra boost.
- Extract is expensive (100,000,000 Adena plus a large chunk of spirit XP). Only do it when you actually want fragments for Svein.
- Wear a Spirit Necklace and pop a Spirit's Blessing when grinding Attribute XP.
- Combat details (skills, Song/Dance Guard, stacking): see the Elemental Spirits guide under Guides.
The spirit is not a pet that tanks for you. It is a combat blessing that rides with you and makes your hits stronger.
